Now, I have often used the concept of packing your own lunch as a metaphor for the myriad of ways that you can take care of your body by feeding it properly. I love packing my lunch, because it not only allows me to avoid the middle-of-the-day-food-scramble but also because there is something comforting about knowing that you are taking care of your needs, that you are prepared in advance for whatever you might require.
I pack my lunch because the types of choices that are conveniently available within close proximity of my place of work are lackluster at best, frequently leaving me with a stomach ache and a strong desire to crawl into a hole and not finish the work day.

A while ago I was writing a lot about Eating for a Busy Life, and linking to fANNEtastic food’s 5 minute lunches, as I was learning how to pack QUICK and easy lunches to bring with me to work. I am happy to say that this is something that I’ve been keeping up with, for the most part, and that it is improving my life rapidly.
The only downside was that I was packing all of my lunches inconveniently in a totally lame plastic bag from the grocery store – wherein the beautifully prepared lunches were sliding all over the place and generally un-contained. Not optimal for a perfectionist like myself.
Thus, I release to you my very first [and super exciting] OpenSky product in the Marzipan Store – the Gourmet Getaway Lunch tote from Built NY. This glorified lunchbox is so luxe you guys, and when I’m carrying it I feel so much more pulled together and merry about packing my lunch. I no longer drag a little plastic bag around with me as I’m moving about my day – and truly, my days are so much better when I take the second to pack up something to eat later on.
Also – bonus, on my days off sometimes I pack this sucker with ice and throw some drinks in it to take it to the beach. And it appears to be indestructible, because I’ve thrown it around with reckless abandon, left it in the rain, and done just about everything but drive it over with my car [the true marzipan usage test].
